A ministerial sod turning at the ASB Bank Tennis Centre in December 2001 marked the start of works on the now completed Grafton Gully Project.

The $68m project is the first of the three Central Motorway Improvement projects to be completed.

Two years on and well ahead of schedule and under budget, project completion was achieved, February 2004.
